The history of Dalaman, one of the most beautiful districts of Muğla, dates back to 2000 BC and the first settlers in the region are known as Lukkas. The Lycians, the civilisation that left the biggest mark on Dalaman and its surroundings, lived in this region in the 1600s BC. In Dalaman and its surrounding settlements, there are many artefacts left by the Lycians and preserving its historical texture. Dalaman, which is in the close mark of history lovers with this feature, is also very attractive with its nature. Dalaman, which was connected to Köyceğiz district after the establishment of the Republic, was merged with Atakent Town in 1983 and had the status of a district. There are 16 villages connected to Dalaman, which is frequented by thousands of tourists every year with its geographical location, international airport and long summer season. Dalaman is located in the Aegean Region; It is neighboured by Fethiye in the east and Ortaca in the north and west. The southern border of the city forms the Mediterranean Sea.
